Even if you provided rough dimensions for a quote, a professional glass company will always send a technician for final measurements. Precision is non-negotiable. Because tempered glass cannot be cut or altered once it is made, we measure down to 1/16 of an inch.
During this visit, we also check for plumb. We use laser levels to check if your walls are leaning or if your shower curb is sloped. If they are, we calculate out-of-square cuts to ensure your glass fits perfectly. We will also confirm exactly where you want your handles and hinges to ensure they don’t hit towel bars or vanities when the door swings open.
Once measurements are finalized, your project moves into production. Unlike big-box stores that stock standard sizes, we manufacture your glass specifically for your home. This typically takes 7 to 10 business days.
Your glass is cut, polished, and then heated to extreme temperatures in a furnace. This tempering process makes it four to five times stronger than standard glass and ensures that, in the rare event of breakage, it crumbles into small, dull cubes rather than sharp shards. We inspect every panel for seeds (tiny bubbles) or scratches before it ever leaves our facility.
The actual installation is surprisingly fast compared to the rest of your bathroom remodel. Most standard frameless enclosures are completed in 2 to 4 hours.
Our installers use drop cloths to protect your new floors and fixtures. We secure hinges into studs or use heavy-duty anchors to ensure your heavy glass panels are safe and stable. Finally, we apply high-quality, mold-resistant silicone to keep the water where it belongs.
This is the hardest part for most homeowners: The Wait. While the glass is securely bolted in place, the silicone sealant needs time to cure completely. We strictly recommend waiting 24 hours before using the shower. Exposing the fresh silicone to steam or direct water spray too early can compromise the seal and lead to leaks down the road.
