Beyond Closets vs CFG: Choosing a Custom Closet Company in Delray Beach

Delray Beach has a few good custom closet companies, and two of them are Beyond Closets and CFG Shower Doors & Closets. We’re CFG, so take that into account. Both are local, both have been around a long time, and they’re good at different things. Here’s how they compare.

Who Beyond Closets Is

Beyond Closets is a Delray Beach company on North Congress Avenue. It’s been in business for more than 20 years across three generations. They focus on luxury custom closets and built-ins: walk-in closets, wall units, home offices, home bars and wine closets, home theaters, mudrooms and under-stair storage. If you want built-in cabinetry throughout the house, that’s their specialty.

Who CFG Is

CFG is a family-owned company based in Boca Raton, just south of Delray, with more than 20 years in Palm Beach and Broward County. We do custom closets, and we’re also a full glass company: frameless shower doors, custom mirrors, glass railings and glass closet doors.

That combination is what sets us apart. We can design a closet and the glass that goes with it in the same project.

When Beyond Closets Makes Sense

  • You want built-in cabinetry in several rooms, like a home office, wall unit or home bar, along with your closet.
  • Your project is all millwork and no glass.

When CFG Makes Sense

  • You want glass or mirrored closet doors, a mirror wall or glass-front cabinets as part of the closet.
  • You’re also updating a bathroom and want your shower door and closet done by one company.
  • You want a closet system for a walk-in, reach-in, pantry or laundry room without a full-house built-in project.

What to Ask Any Delray Beach Closet Company

  • Do you do a free in-home design visit?
  • Who installs: your own crew or a subcontractor?
  • What materials do you use, and how do they hold up in South Florida humidity?
  • Can I see finishes and hardware in person?
  • Are you licensed and insured in Palm Beach County?

The Bottom Line

Both are solid local choices. If your project is built-in furniture throughout the house, Beyond Closets is worth a call. If you want a custom closet with glass or mirror built in, or you’re doing closets and bathroom glass together, CFG handles both under one roof.

One Day Doors & Closets vs CFG: Which Is Right for Your Closet Project?

If you’re shopping for new closet doors or a closet system in Palm Beach County, two names come up a lot: One Day Doors & Closets and CFG Shower Doors & Closets. We’re CFG, so we’ll be upfront about that. We also think both companies are good at different things, and the right choice depends on your project. Here’s an honest breakdown.

Who One Day Doors & Closets Is

One Day Doors & Closets is a national brand. Its local locations are independently owned dealers that sell and install One Day products. In Palm Beach County there’s a showroom in North Palm Beach, and there’s a separate dealer in Broward.

Their focus is right in the name: interior doors and closet doors, delivered and installed in one day, plus closet organizers and home organization systems. If you want to swap every interior door in your house quickly, that’s what they’re built for.

Who CFG Is

CFG is a family-owned glass and closet company based in Boca Raton, with more than 20 years in Palm Beach and Broward County. We started in glass: frameless shower doors, custom mirrors, glass railings and glass closet doors. We also design and install custom closet systems.

Our strength is custom work, especially anything involving glass or mirror. Every project is measured on site and built to fit.

When One Day Doors & Closets Makes Sense

  • You’re replacing a lot of standard interior doors (bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways) and want it done fast.
  • You want standard closet door styles and a quick install without construction.
  • You’re in north Palm Beach County and want a showroom close by.

When CFG Makes Sense

  • You want glass or mirrored closet doors made to your exact opening, not a standard size.
  • You want the closet system and the glass designed together, like a walk-in with glass-front cabinets or a mirror wall.
  • You’re also doing other glass work, like a frameless shower door, a vanity mirror or a glass railing, and want one company for all of it.
  • You’re in south Palm Beach County or Broward and want a local team out of Boca Raton.

Questions to Ask Any Closet Door Company

Whoever you call, these questions will tell you a lot:

  • Who measures, and who installs? The company’s own crew or a subcontractor?
  • Are the doors made to my exact opening, or cut down from standard sizes?
  • What hardware and track system do you use, and how does it hold up in humidity?
  • Are you licensed and insured in my county?
  • What happens if something isn’t right after install?

The Bottom Line

If your project is mostly standard interior doors and speed matters most, One Day Doors & Closets is built for that. If it involves custom glass, mirrors, or a closet designed around how you live, that’s what we do every day.

How Much Does A Custom Closet Cost

We don’t often think about it but our daily routine begins and ends with our closet. Think about it the first thing we do in the morning is grab our outfit for the day and the last thing before bed is to get our PJs from the closet. Other than the bathroom, our closet might just be the most used area in our home but it is oftentimes the most neglected. We believe this should change. Your closet should be a place of peace and even relaxation before you head out to face the world.

At CFG Shower Doors & Closets, we work with our clients to transform their closets into a custom storage oasis.  The many benefits gained with the addition of a custom closet system that includes rods, shelving, built-in drawers, and cabinets make your routine easier. You’ll discover a feeling of harmony that carries you through the day. Our approach transforms the closet system’s organization into art and your closet into an oasis.

How Much Do Custom Closets Cost

Demand for home organization products used in closets is projected to advance 4.8% per year through 2023 to $3.4 billion according to a study by Freedonia. When your precariously stacked crates, boxes, and bins start to drive you crazy on a daily basis, a custom closet for your main bedroom could be just what you need to cut the chaos. You could pay $20,000 and above for a Theresa Roemer-esque walk-in with high-end materials and a center island, but a more realistic average cost of a custom closet is around $2000-$3000 dollars nationally. So, adding some more shelves, drawers, and hanging rods is certainly doable without a celebrity budget.

The price ranges for custom Boca Raton closets are so broad because size and style also influence the cost, including whether it’s walk-in or reach-in. To get an accurate costing a few factors have to be considered including:

  • Labor and Installation – Custom work requires custom labor. You need people who are experienced with installing custom built-ins into existing spaces.
  • Materials – The type of materials you select will directly affect the cost of your project. Premium finishes will carry a higher price tag but also add more value to your custom closet
  • Add-ons – The best part of doing a custom closet is that you get to do just that,  customize it. You can select add-ons such as jewelry drawers, shoe racks, full-length mirrors, tract lighting and so much more.

How To Maximize The Value of Your Custom Palm Beach County Closet

Three things sell homes – Kitchens, Bathrooms, and Closets. These three areas are what home buyers tend to focus on when choosing a home. With this in mind, we recommend 3 things to do when choosing to install custom closets.

  1. Design your closets to be versatile – When you make your design decisions, be sure to pick adjustable shelves, hooks, rods, and organizers so that your future buyers can modify the closet to meet their needs.
  2. Choose neutral materials and designs – You may like hot pink but chances are a potential buyer may not want to see that color every morning when choosing their outfit for the day. No matter how much you love vibrant custom closet colors and finishes that are available, keep in mind that this custom closet will be permanent, so you need to make neutral choices that won’t turn off future buyers.
  3. KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid – This means don’t over-customize your closet. Over-customizing can lead to a lowering of usable space and make the closet less functional.
